Adventure #1, besides Jersey...

We are headed to Maine today! Decided we wanted to go see Acadia National Park this week.  Going to head that direction and either hit Boston on the way in or the way back to New Jersey.  We haven't actually decided that yet, but it seems to be how this trip is evolving. We can always figure it out later :)  There are a few other cities that I looked up some cool places to hit in Maine.  Portland and other coastal cities... they have First Fridays so I am hoping we can get to one of those!

For those non-artist people, usually on the first friday of every month (so this June 3rd) the art communities open up galleries and have exhibition "openings" all around their city.  Usually the shops and galleries are all close to walking distance, so you just get a brochure (if the town has one) and wander and look at all the art. They usually take place in the evening and its just a really awesome way to get to know the art community and see recent work and pieces by local artists.  Hopefully we can make it to one, and I can do some networking? Or at least enjoy the art!

Well, Adventure #1 is damn near underway... lets see how it goes?

Small update

It's Sunday evening.  Spent the day at the beach with some of Denny's cousins and family.  Got a little bit burnt, but Denny got it worse.  His back could be mistaken for a lobster.  Supposed to go back to beach tomorrow with more family before we head out on tuesday for the north coast.  (But not sure Denny is up for it...) We decided we wouldn't try to travel Memorial Day, so Tuesday we are thinking of going north and exploring Boston, then continuing to Acadia National Park and back?  I looked up a few places in Boston and came up with the Boston Center for the Arts and a School of the Museum of Fine Arts.

This first excursion will give us an idea of how we want to go about planning for the rest of the trip and how we work? style of travel? Who knows.  I am just getting excited and anxious all at the same time.  After this one we are going to do New York City, possibly when his sister Kaitlin and her friend get here so we have a bit of a group.  So planning is coming along. One more safe, fun day in NJ then we get a taste of more traveling and what is to come.  Feel free to pass on any ideas!

Upcoming plans for the week!

Good Morning!   Well, the party for Mason last night was a success.  Marissa and Erik worked their butts off and a ton of people showed up.  It was lovely to meet all of their family and friends and of course we wooped it up pretty good later that night.  I have officially partied it up New Jersey style I guess.  And my accent just got ripped apart, but oh well.

Today, I am going to do my best to plan out the next week and a half of traveling the East Coast.  I am pretty sure some ideas for now are New York, because it is pretty much America's center for the big time arts.  Then we may go to Philly and Boston, and down the coast as well.  We don't have to actually be back in New Jersey until the 10th and the 11th, so who knows what we can get done.

But of course among the planning today, we are going to his cousins? house for a BBQ a half a block from the coast.  I'm not complaining.  Beach time for Lindsey! Its only 9am here and its already 75 degrees.  Hope MN is doing alright!

The last couple days...

Well, Denny and I left at the crack of noon on Thursday, May 26th.  I ended up driving the first 8 hours and the 2 hours of stop and go traffic through Chicago.  Of course, we hit rush hour even though we were trying to miss it, but oh well!  Then we kept driving through the night and it rained off and on all the way through Illinois, Indiana, Ohio and Pennsylvania.  I missed most of the Appalachian Mountains through PA because it was night, but I did get to see the sunrise over them as we were getting close to New Jersey.

I let Denny drive us through New Jersey, but I still can't decide if that was a good idea or not.  I guess my car is still in one piece. Thank you.

Well, when we got to Denny's brothers house, him and his wife Marissa took us all to Seaside Heights and the beach.  Seaside Heights is definitely where "Jersey Shore" is filmed.  We walked the boardwalk and I saw the Shore Store and the house.  I even saw the manager who is always on T.V. Crazy.  The people there are for real.  I could not stop giggling as I people watched but I was too afraid to actually ask a guido to stop and take a picture with me.  After that we just wandered down the boardwalk and the boys bought and made me take a "mindracer" shot which was quite tasty.  We then wandered back home, and pretty much relaxed the rest of the night while getting ready for Denny's nephew's first birthday party today.  Which I am currently missing, so I better get my butt down there and celebrate.  I'll post more later tonight.

Finally Leaving!

So, I am leaving to pick up Denny here in the next fifteen minutes. Can't believe its today! We will be heading to New Jersey from his house.  Not sure if we will go non-stop through the night, but who knows. We should make it to Jersey sometime tomorrow, get settled and start planning for the week to come.  All kinds of adventures on the east coast to see! Keep you updated!

Going to miss everybody! Love you all!
